Wander Wednesday

“Not all those who wander are lost.”- J.R.R. Tolkien

Yellow and red yarns drying in the sun in Marrakech

The souks in Morocco may seem like a random maze of shops but there are defined areas for different trades. If you want to see where the goods are produced, you may have to get off the well-worn tourist paths. We saw places where leather was being cut for shoes, steel was being bent for lamp fixtures, and this area where huge hanks of yarn were dyed and dried for rug weaving. The craft work and small industry are fascinating. Again, it helps to have a great guide, which we did!
