minaret of the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca

We visited the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca. It is one of the few mosques that non-Muslims can visit. It has the second tallest minaret in the world and 25,000 people can worship on the inside. Construction was completed in seven years with nearly 15,ooo workers, artisans, and craftsmen working on it. Moroccan and Moorish designs are everywhere, showcasing examples of all the best craftsmanship in ceramic tile, wood carving, and plaster and marble carving. On the grounds are over 41 fountains, a museum, hammams, a madersa, a library, and a museum. Travel tip: get here early to beat the crowds! Our excellent guide, Houcine, knew just how to show us the grounds and avoid most of the crowds.
