Wander Wednesday

“Not all those who wander are lost.”- J.R.R. Tolkien

The Covid-19 pandemic prevented us from traveling the world the way we used to.  If you choose to travel, please heed government guidelines for health and safety. Be sure to check the health situation in the place you are going and be prepared with appropriate supplies and resources. Remember the health measures that you take to protect yourself also protect those around you! If you can’t travel now, you can still dream about where to go when you can! Hopefully, next year! When you are ready to travel again, I’m here to help!

Thread Painted Globe

2020 has been a crazy year, for sure. For the last Wander Wednesday post of the year, I wanted to highlight the work of an artist I discovered in her gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was our last trip before the pandemic shut everything down. This globe reminds me that we are all in this together, and together we will make it through the tough times, even as we stay socially distanced.

Chris Roberts-Antineau creates stunning artworks with a technique she calls “thread painting.” Using her sewing machine, she stitches each section with many different-colored threads, giving each part of the work a realistic, almost 3D appearance. Most artworks also have drawing, painting, and other media in them. You can check out her work here. Soon we will be able to travel the world again! Stay safe and have a wonderful new year.
