On our recent trip to Milan, we got to stay in the Presidential Suite at the Park Hyatt Milan.

I won a contest sponsored by the hotel last year and received a voucher for a 2-night stay in the Presidential Suite, including breakfast. We stayed at this hotel at the end of our trip to Italy and we definitely went out on a high note.

Park Hyatt Hotels are usually in a historic building, in central city locations. This hotel-the only Park Hyatt in Italy-is just off the Galleria Vittorio Emanuelle II and the Piazza del Duomo, in a building from the 1870s, so it wins on both counts. While I have toured several Park Hyatts, I’ve never stayed at one until now.

At about 1700 sq ft, The Presidential Suite, (Room 601) is massive. There is a small entry vestibule and the first thing you see are the floor to ceiling windows of the private outdoor terrace, with more furniture than I have in my living room.

Then you walk into the large living room with 2 sofas, 2 coffee tables, many chairs and large desk. Just behind the desk is a wall of mirrored doors which open into the dining room with seating for 8. The kitchenette is behind the dining room.

To the back left of the living room is the bedroom (comfortable King-sized bed) and bathroom and separate powder room. Two water closets make for a happy couple!

The bathroom has a jetted tub and separate rain shower with side jets and electronic controls. Amenities for the bath were large and varied, by Italian designer Laura Tonatto. There are 2 separate closet spaces in the bathroom with bathrobes and slippers.

The suite is furnished in a contemporary design with colors of cream, brown, and gold. There are lots of mirrors strategically placed to make it seem even larger. There are marble floors, travertine walls, Murano Lamps, and special fabrics throughout.

We spent time enjoying our suite in the short time we were there. We had lunch on our terrace, and  had dinner in our suite on our last night.  I found a favorite chair for reading and lounging. and worked at the glass-topped desk in the living room, not to mention taking both a bath and a shower, just to try out all the amenities… When you have a suite, it’s fun to stay in.

At the hotel we did enjoy cocktails and aperitivi (snacks) in the Mio Bar. We also had a huge breakfast before our departure in La Cupola Lobby Lounge. The waitresses fussed at us because we didn’t eat enough. All the staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. This hotel is great for the upscale traveler who wants the central location, beautifully appointed and comfortable rooms, excellent staff, welcoming lobby lounge and restaurants and that Park Hyatt ambiance.

We felt pampered and well-taken care of and enjoyed this taste of the suite life!
