August is generally the last time to take a vacation before schools begin and the fall schedules take over the calendar. For one exhausting but exhilarating week, I’ll be attending the Virtuoso Travel Week conference in Las Vegas. Not a vacation, but a great learning experience!
This month’s photos have a floral theme! Enjoy!
Wander Wednesday
“Not all those who wander are lost.”- J.R.R. Tolkien
What looks like a painting is actually a mosaic. Pietra Dura, mosaics make with inlaid colored and semi-precious stones is an established art form mainly in Florence, Italy, dating from the 1500s and Medici times. There is a museum where you can view the amazing details of these “stone paintings.” I loved seeing these designs and was awed by the workmanship. I’ve had one of these flower pictures as a background on my phone since I went to Florence a few years ago. I would definitely put this on a list of “Must See” places in Florence!
